So I bought the Lay Off Your Boss package the other day as it was getting so much hype I figured I had to check it out. Oh man was I disappointed. This system officially gets my thumbs down. Why?
I’ve always been of the mind that if three or four of the big names out there are promoting someone’s product there has to be one of two reasons, #1 - The product is actually good or #2 They were promised a truckload of money from the affiliate sales of the product (probably around 80-90% if I were to guess). And it turns out from what I read and the sub-par material presented in this package, they made a lot of money on their subscribers!
This package was touted as having some ‘never before seen marketing strategies’ and ‘great for all levels of marketers’. Both of these claims are out and out lies.
Firstly, there was absolutely nothing new in this ebook, just a bunch of regurgitated materials from sources around the internet and general knowledge from around 2005. Secondly, I would be hesitant to recommend this product to a newbie as the way it presents its subject matter is both unprofessional and kind of insulting. It assumes that this is the very first marketing package you have ever bought and you just got a computer and internet connection yesterday. A completely unrealistic and foolhardy way of writing an ebook if you ask me.
This product also broke one of my cardinal rules from page 1 all the way through the very last page - horrible grammar and misspellings everywhere!
I get the heeby jeebies whenever I think of putting out a product with that many spelling mistakes (I started counting and got all the way to 198 before I gave up and that was at page 42 I think, so an average of four misspelled words per page and that’s not even getting started on sentence fragments, run on sentences and subject switches in the middle of paragraphs!)
Your product shouldn’t be hard to read. Period.
You should not make someone struggle to comprehend your product, no matter how many times you point out how horrible of a speller you are throughout. Spend the extra money to get a professional proofreader to go over it. For a system like this it would have cost him at most $200 to get it corrected by a professional copywriter. Heck, I would have done it for him for $150 to make sure this atrociousness wasn’t released like it was.
After reading the extremely disappointing ebook, I watched the videos provided as well and was almost embarrassed for the professionals being interviewed. I mean he got some pretty big names for these and he almost sounds like he’s competent through a few of them. For the most part the big guys were leading the conversations and seemed very uncomfortable doing so.
If you’re going to interview some big names out there, don’t allow the interview to be lead by them as you’re likely to never work with them again. I bet you a dollar that none of those big names are going to work with him again and he’ll soon get a reputation for wasting people’s time. Especially if he’s using them to promote such poorly put together products.
So before I go on any longer, I have to include that by no means am I belittling the amount of work that went into this product, it seems like he actually thought through the process a bit and wanted to create something of value, he just unfortunately fell way short of his mark.
My ultimate suggestion is to not waste your time or money on this package, you’ll learn a lot more by taking advantage of free resources around the internet and just keeping your ears open as you go about your business online.
Final Rating? 1 1/2 thumbs down
