We have all been there.
Everyone says affiliate marketing is the perfect business model with which to start your online business.
So we set out to do everything they tell us to do - get the affiliate links, run some pay-per-click advertising and eagerly wait for our commissions to roll in.
Nothing.
Next we set up a simple webpage, get an autoresponder service to start building a list, buy some more advertising and wait again.
Still nothing. Worse still, even your list is not buying from you! Yes, we have all been there.
So, what is wrong here. Isn’t affiliate marketing supposed to be simple, you might ask. Well, the answer is both yes and no. The truth is affiliate marketing is dead simple only in concept. But if you want to make a decent income from it, you will need to put in some work. More importantly, you will need a “system” in place and put that to work.
Think about it. With a brick-and-mortar business, you would have to have a business plan worked out long before you opened your doors for business. You would have figured out all the logistics and economics required for your business to be profitable. Why should it be any different with affiliate marketing then?
The primary focus for any business is how to constantly turn in a profit. With the emphasis on “constantly” instead of “how”, it is imperative that we focus our efforts on the strategy and planning of our affiliate marketing business as a whole, before we even launch a single promotion - in whichever market we choose.
